Howard & Howard Attorney Receives Several Appointments to Illinois State Bar Association

Royal Oak, Michigan, July 9, 2009: Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC is pleased to announce that Michael R. Lied has been appointed to serve as Chair of the 2009-2010 Illinois State Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section Council. Lied was also appointed as a member of the Federal Civil Practice Section Council and Member of the Standing Committee on Continuing Education. Throughout his appointments, he will be contributing to the continuing legal education programming as well as the sections newsletters in addition to actively participating in many other programs and projects sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association. Lied practices out of the firm’s Peoria, Illinois office.
Lied focuses his practice in the areas of labor and employment law and related litigation and immigration law, representing employers. He attended the University of Illinois where he received a B.S. in Psychology in 1975 and a M.A. from the University's Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations in 1977. In 1983, Lied received his J.D. from the University of Michigan.
He is admitted to practice in Michigan and Illinois and to the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Claims, the Sixth and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and for the Eastern District of Michigan. Lied has written more than two hundred articles for various publications, as well as several chapters in publications of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He is a regular lecturer on various legal topics.
Lied is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association, and its sections of Litigation and Labor and Employment Law. Lied is a member of the Leading Lawyers network and has been selected as an Illinois Super Lawyer for the past three years (2007-2009).
